«Pombal is the most sustainable municipality of Portugal». Sustainability has been a major flag in Pombal, as it has consistently been recognized as the most Sustainable Municipality of Portugal by the European Blue Flag Association.
« Pombal envisions itself in 2030 as a benchmark municipality with a distinct path anchored in a robust and structured economic and technological ecosystem. This vision prioritizes access to essential services, in an inclusive and sustainable manner; reinforces territorial cohesion, and enhances the quality of life for its residents». According to the Pombal2030 Strategic Plan, Pombal aims to be: 1. More competitive and digital, fostering a dynamic and sustained transition of the local economy into a robust, attractive and innovative business ecosystem that encourages innovation and entrepreneurship and attracts investment in strategic areas; 2. More sustainable and resilient, stiving for a greener, more sustainable municipality, by providing the needed support for energy and climate transition of industries, companies, public space, transportation, planning and citizens; 3. More cohesive and inclusive, establishing Pombal as a territory recognized for its ability to offer a unique quality of life through a range of resources, services and initiatives capable of attracting, and retaining residents; and 4. More connected to the territory and people, ensuring integrated, balanced and differentiated development of the Territory that will reinforces territorial cohesion, development and competitiveness.
These strategic axes will guide the Municipality’s planning and pursuit of innovative solutions over the coming years, welcoming new ideas to achieve Pombal´s vision to 2030.
