The decision of the Dutch national agency for reception of asylum seekers (COA) to anticipate the closure of Plan Einstein and the transfer of asylum seekers in another center (in another area of the city) could have represented a hard blow for the URL-Pad local team.
Instead, as UIA Expert Dani Torres explains in his journal, the extremely committed local partnership was able to build on the positive experiences of Plan Einstein and convince the COA to apply the same innovative approach for empowerment and self-entrepreneurship in the new center.
The Journal describes the last months of activities at Plan Einstein and its emotional closure. It also analyses the process of adaptation of the URL-Pad approach and methodology to the new center, especially considering the different profile of asylum seekers and local residents.
