The European Commission has launched on the 14 January, a call for applications for the “NEB Boost for Small Municipalities”, a new initiative with the support of the European Parliament that will award 20 prizes to small municipalities recognising projects aligned with the values of the NEB: inclusive, sustainable, and beautiful.
The New European Bauhaus (NEB) Prizes is a well-established competition that awards outstanding projects and initiatives that combine sustainability, inclusion and aesthetics, demonstrating how the European Green Deal transition can practically enrich the lives of people and communities.
The past four editions of the Prizes in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 demonstrated a great interest and commitment of people throughout and beyond Europe to shape a New European Bauhaus inspired world. Over 5000 applications have been received and 72 awarded till this year.
In 2023, the Prizes expanded their geographical scope to include applications from the Western Balkans, in addition to the EU Member States. In the 2024 edition, Ukraine was also included in the competition, with two projects receiving a 'Special Recognition for Ukraine’s Reconstruction and Recovery Effort' prize.
The New European Bauhaus Prizes 2024 awarded a total of 20 winners with monetary prizes of up to EUR 30,000 and communication package to help them further promote and develop their projects and concepts. The 2024 edition included two special awards for reconstruction projects from Ukraine, as well as a strong focus on EU regions facing socio-economic constraints or green transition challenges.
