The Circular Cities and Regions Initiative is an initiative of the European Commission launched as part of the EU Circular Economy Action Plan 2020. It aims to support EU cities and regions in accelerating their circular economy transition. It is funded by the Horizon Europe programme.

Target audience

Circular Cities and Regions Initiative’s project development assistance (CCRI-PDA) will help selected project promoters to develop their circular economy proposals at local and regional scale by bringing together the technical, economic and legal expertise.

The CCRI is a rather unique multi-stakeholder collaboration and support scheme, which provides:

- TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE: CCRI supports the demonstration of circular systemic solutions, and the development of new circular business & governance models.

- FINANCIAL SUPPORT: CCRI supports the demonstration of circular systemic solutions, and the development of new circular business & governance models.

- COLLABORATION: CCRI facilitates cooperation, synergies and complementarities with relevant partners, initiatives and projects.

The objective is to support cities and regions in translating their ambition into true actions towards a circular economy transition.
