Zoom-in 1
UIA Expert Christoph Reinprecht and the CORE team produce a video on a key part of the project’s empowerment work stream.

In the first Zoom-In produced for the CORE project being implemented in the city of Vienna we learn about Peer Mentoring from the perspective of the trainers and well as the students.

Refugees have demonstrated to be best qualified to support and mentor fellow refugees (or even to sensitize institutions of the receiving society such as the public administration, police, schools etc. looking at the concerns of refugee inclusion. Trained refugee peers have been able to help guide refugees through the early integration process and give advice in basic issues of life in Vienna, such as housing, education, health, rules and codes for living in the city and even racism. Framed into “welcome modules” that have been developed (and tested) on the basis of an extensive analysis of refugee needs.

Find out further in this short video that includes conversations with students and trainers, the main discussion points and the most valuable lessons for those participating within them.

The UIA will publish a collection of Zoom-In’s from its funded projects annually in a variety of formats including: articles, interviews, videos or infographics. Zoom-In’s are an in-depth look into a specific part of the project allowing us to deepen the knowledge generated by the project concerning the solutions designed and implemented. It provides further information on how to overcome the main challenges related to the experimentation of innovative projects in a real urban setting.
