Challenge description
The city of Maastricht is growing and urbanizing, with an increasing demand for housing, infrastructure, and mobility. At the same time, we do not want to expand our ecological footprint. This means that we must ensure that densification and sustainable urban development go hand in hand.
We are looking for European cities facing similar challenges: How do you facilitate urban growth without using more space and without negative envrionmental impact? What innovative solutions and policies already exist? We want to learn from cities that successfully implement densification strategies, but are also open to collaborating with other cities that share similar characteristics.
Our focus is on:
- Smart and sustainable densification strategies
- Balancing growth and ecological impact
- Innovative mobility and infrastructure plans
- Preserving quality of life and green spaces in a growing city
- We invite cities to share knowledge and experiences and jointly develop best practices for sustainable urban development
