The Santa Luċija Local Council is currently exploring the introduction of an autonomous bus service as part of its long-term vision to enhance connectivity, improve mobility, and reduce environmental impact within the locality. This innovative initiative presents an important urban challenge, as it requires careful planning, evaluation, and adaptation to ensure it is suitable for the town’s infrastructure and community needs.
The Council aims to understand how autonomous buses operate, the technological requirements, and the urban adjustments necessary for their safe and efficient integration. To achieve this, we are seeking to learn from other localities where similar systems have already been implemented, examining best practices, operational models, safety measures, and community feedback.
