SALUS addressed the reconversion of Villa SALUS an abandoned hospital for elderly into an innovative multi-functional welfare facility operating to foster the social, cultural and economic inclusion of migrants/refugees as well as citizens of the Bologna’s city district Savena and the whole Bologna metropolitan area. SALUS space was built around the cornerstones: sustainability (embedded self-financing mechanisms), accessibility (flexible openness towards diverse vulnerable social groups), multi-functionality (generator of multiple services e.g. socio-recreational and cultural trainings etc.), and social connectedness (wide engagement of all urban stakeholders of the interested city district from the project design to the project completion and beyond).

During its implementation, the UIA project has capitalised on its experience so that it can be shared with peers. The outputs displayed on this page are the result of this process.
