The CitiCAP project experimented a Personal Carbon Trading (PCT) scheme to encourage sustainable and low-carbon urban mobility by promoting and rewarding behavioral changes. The PCT scheme was co-designed in the framework of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) and through a participatory and user-led process. Different experimental PCT models were compared, in which citizens were able to monitor their emission and budget their carbon use via an open mobility data platform. The urban mobility data gathered though the platform is relevant for public authorities, as well as to foster sustainable mobility services and business opportunities. In parallel, a package of incentives was put in place to encourage the use of the PCT scheme, and a carbon-neutral bicycle highway lanes investment was carried out in order to support low-carbon choices of transport.

During its implementation, the UIA project has capitalised on its experience so that it can be shared with peers. The outputs displayed on this page are the result of this process.
