The call is open to all EU cities with the capacity and enthusiasm to support the organisation of the next edition of the Cities Forum.

It aims at selecting a city to host the event in 2027. The Cities Forum is the key European Commission’s event focusing on the urban dimension of EU Cohesion Policy and EU level initiatives supporting sustainable urban development. It is co-organised by EUI and the European Commission Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO).

Key information for interested applicants

  • Application period: the application window is open from 8 January 2026 to 17 February 2026, 14:00 CET. background document for applicants and application package are available on the call page.
  • Application process: cities must submit their applications via an online form, detailing their ability and enthusiasm to host the event.
  • Selection process: the EUI Permanent Secretariat will evaluate the applications received. The European Commission - DG Regio will then shortlist candidates for the final selection at the meeting of the Directors General for Urban Affairs on 15 April 2026.
